“For Auld Lang Syne”

Spread the love

Janus AE

January is named after the Roman god Janus who we still celebrate on New Year’s Eve. Janus is pictured with two faces whereby one looks at the past and the other looks ahead at the year to come. Auld lang syne is Scottish “for the sake of old times”. Indeed, should it just be forgotten?

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?
