While the coronavirus has failed to prove to be any more lethal than the annual flu with a death rate of less than 3%, nevertheless, the media attention has resulted in a real panic globally. Not merely will the first-quarter figures show a significant drop as tourism has halted and companies have ordered their staff to stay home, one staff member tested positive to the coronavirus who works at DBS in Singapore. The bank has sent all its employees home and has effectively shut its operations to a large extent creating turmoil in Singapore’s financial district.
