All our sources confirm that Russia pulled out all the stops to get Ukraine on its side besides taking $15 billion of its debt, it cut the cost of gas by 1/3rd. The EU has its head in a cloud and cannot see that its structure is absurd. But to revise it now means a loss of bureaucratic jobs. Reuters has provided a decent report on Ukraine. The protests, however, were more against corruption than turning away from the EU. The government is just seen as way too corrupt and one needs to bribe police and government workers for basic things right down to getting a passport.
