Celtic Ring Money

Celtic Æ “proto-money” was composed of bronze rings of various diameters from approximately 10mm to 45mm and were generally used between 600BC and 200BC. They are typically found in the Balkans Region. These rings were used as currency before the introduction of the coins in the Eastern Danube region and the Black sea area by the Eastern Celts.
