Ancient coins a recognizable internationally and thus tend to be a far more stable store of value than national modern coins that move cyclically with the local economy. Ancient coins are disconnected from that local cycle.
The finest known Naxos would probably be worth 1.5 to 2x that of the piece sold in 2012. That is still dirt cheap compared to US coins. But the Naxos holds the record for the most valuable silver coinage.
